The sounds of the square change into music
Art Sound Installation with Olophones - Rome, 20-21 June 2009 - Piazza Re di Roma (brochure)

In conjunction with the Festa Europea della Musica Piazza Re di Roma becomes the scenery of a new installation by CRM based on olophones, projectors capable to send every detail of sound to distances impossible for regular speakers.

The square, attended during the day by people with different interests, age, needs and attitudes, generates sounds with strong semantics, to be transformed in significant  musical elements.

The music, the setting and the electronic processing made for this special event mix themselves with real sounds audible on a given moment in the square, producing on the perception of  listeners an ambiguity between real and virtual sound – that is musically treated.

People position affects the virtual movement of sounds in the square space, making the audience actively participating.

The event is produced with support by Comune di Roma – Assessorato alle Politiche Culturali e della Comunicazione, in collaboration with MiBAC – Direzione per la Promozione e la Comunicazione, Regione Lazio Assessorato alla Cultura, Spettacolo e Sport, and Festa della Musica
